Australia regulates online content through the Online Safety Act and several associated regulations (including industry codes and standards, Basic Online Safety Expectations, and social media minimum age requirements). These laws and regulations are enforced by the eSafety Commissioner. This briefing paper outlines how this approach creates risks for sex workers, LGBTQIA+ people, people who use drugs and other marginalised communities.
