Member Organisations – Scarlet Alliance

Respect Inc is the sex worker organisation in Queensland and provides a comprehensive health promotion and peer education program for sex workers. They have offices and sex workers drop-in spaces in Gimuy (Cairns), Meanjin (Brisbane) and on Yugambeh and Kombumerri Land (Gold Coast) and regularly provide regional outreach in many other locations throughout Queensland. Respect Inc delivers a wide range of programs and projects including in person and online peer education, advocacy, referrals and support, STI and BBV prevention, sex worker community events, workforce development training for external organisations, a sex worker-only medical clinic, and produces sex worker–specific resources on topics such as sexual health, safer sex, and workplace health and safety, among many other topics. Respect Inc and DecrimQLD successfully campaigned for the decriminalisation of sex work in Queensland, achieved in 2024.

South Australian Sex Industry Network (SIN) is a community-based, peer-led sex worker organisation in South Australia. SIN promotes the health, rights, and wellbeing of South Australian sex workers through outreach, peer support, and the provision of information and education. SIN provides safer sex and harm reduction supplies, peer advocacy, and referrals to legal, health, and social services. They also build community through social and informative events, while challenging stigma, celebrating sex work as skilled and legitimate labour, and advocating for industrial and legislative rights across the state.

Sex Work; Education, Advocacy and Rights (SWEAR) is a peer-led organisation working to reduce stigma and discrimination towards sex workers in Western Australia. SWEAR raises community awareness, undertakes consultations with government and non-government bodies, and advocates for the full decriminalisation of sex work. Operating without government funding, SWEAR is driven by the expertise and commitment of sex workers who volunteer their time. The organisation provides in-person and online peer support and education, and offers referrals to sex worker–friendly health, legal, and financial services. SWEAR also delivers sex worker awareness training to the broader community, including healthcare providers, educational institutions, and other services, to promote understanding and reduce stigma and discrimination.

Sex Worker Outreach Project Australian Capital Territory (SWOP ACT) is the local sex worker peer organisation on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri Nations (Canberra). Their primary objective is to provide outreach, peer education, and community connection to sex workers across the ACT, supporting their health, safety, and wellbeing.

The Sex Workers Outreach Project New South Wales (SWOP NSW) is a sex worker-led organisation that has delivered peer-led services to the sex industry in NSW for over 35 years. As a member of Scarlet Alliance, SWOP NSW are part of the national movement led by sex workers, for sex workers, advancing the rights, health, and dignity of our communities. As an organisation, SWOP NSW is grounded in lived experience and the principle that sex workers are the experts in our own lives. Through peer-led outreach, education, and direct support across metropolitan and regional NSW, they advocate for sex workers’ full and equal access to health care, safety, human rights, and workplace protections.

Sex Worker Outreach Project Tasmania (SWOP TAS) is Scarlet Alliance’s peer sex worker organisation in Lutruwita/Tasmania. The team provides outreach, peer support, and education to sex workers across the state, including metropolitan, regional, and remote areas. SWOP TAS supports the diverse needs of Tasmanian sex workers by providing safer sex and harm reduction supplies, peer advocacy and awareness training, and referrals to legal, health, and workplace services. SWOP TAS also facilitates sex-worker only events for skill-sharing, community building and resource development, ensuring their work is grounded in the experiences and needs of local sex workers.

Touching Base is an Associate Member Organisation of Scarlet Alliance and a national, not-for-profit, un-funded charity working at the intersection of sex work and disability. The organisation provides advocacy, training, and tailored resources to support connections between sex workers and people with disability. Touching Base advocates for access, human rights, and the reduction of stigma and discrimination faced by both communities. They facilitate a national referral program, connecting people with disability to sex workers, and maintain a database of trained and experienced sex workers. The organisation also delivers professional disability awareness training for sex workers, as well as training for disability support workers and other allied health providers to support their clients with safer, non-judgemental access to sex worker services.

Vixen is Victoria’s peer sex worker organisation, proudly run 100% by and for current and former sex workers. Based in Naarm, Vixen promotes the rights, health and well-being of all Victorian sex workers through outreach, peer education, support, health promotion and harm reduction services. Vixen supports the diverse needs of Victorian sex workers by providing safer sex and harm reduction supplies, peer advocacy, and referrals to legal, health, and workplace resources. They also build community through events, skill-sharing, and resource development, while advocating for the rights, health, and safety of sex workers across the state.
